community task

I work at a senior center. I love cheering people up when they are down. I sometimes go and preach on Sunday's to people who can't go to church. They love it. I love being with the people, but they are SO good at playing Monopoly.. darn

what YWIC did for me

As a person I feel camp has helped
me become a better person and helped
me understand what we females are truly
capable of doing in this world. I feel that if
we pass this on to girls in the future we will
get the respect and recognition we deserve.
The color of our skin doesn't determine what
we do with our lives, so why should our gender?
Forgiveness was my super power. Honestly I feel
 that is a power that came as a gift from God.
Not everybody has the strength to forgive as
they should. That takes a lot of work to develop.
I have never had a grudge and can't imagine being
upset with someone for a long period of time that
doesn't help an situations and can make everything.

Clothing

Prompt: What current fashion in clothing do you particularly like or dislike? Explain.


My favorite clothing style is either loose and casual like sweats and a tee. My other favorite and a little bit more classy is a black short tight dress. Maybe about knee height. I don't like really short or exposing clothing. I don't think that is very comfortable. I like to be comfortable in my clothes and also with who I am. I'm not a person who dwells on their appearance but I also don't want to look "trashy" or "Promiscuous"...

10 years from now

Blog Prompt: Where do you see yourself in 10 years? Describe your career, family, or any other things you want to happen.

In 10 years I think I will have a degree or two, be engaged, if not married. I may have adopted a child or two. I think I will have traveled a lot and hopefully enjoyed myself to the fullest extent. I don't think I will be living in New Mexico by then, but you never know. I'm not sure what I want from the world, but whatever God has in store for me will be awesome.

My birth name is Daria which means Dorthy in Italian. I was born in Russia and don't really know the story behind my name, but I do know that when my mom adopted me she kept the birth name I was given because she thought that changing a child's name just because of where they are was wrong and too hard on the child. My mom's current last name comes from my grandmother's 2nd marriage. As a child my mom's last name was Bond.  If I could change my name I would change it to Selah Amarie Montoya. In Hebrew, Selah means 'one who sings to the Lord'. I am a devout Christian and always wished that my name were more true to who I really am. I hate fantasy anything. So honestly, the name Dorthy makes me a little mad.. Amarie is one of my favorite names for a girl. Montoya is the last name on my mom's ex-husband's side of the family, and the last name I plan to take legally when I get married.

Opening a restaurant

I would open a restaurant of extremely authentic Russian food, and call it Ideal'nyy (Pronounced: I DEEL KNEE) which means 'perfection' in Russian. I would love to have an all Russian staff that brought their own family recipes to comprise the menu. I would love for the restaurant to have authentic imported art and a bar with a pool table. It could even have a small stage for children to play on and for open mic night.

Top 2 College Picks and why:

2. Fort Lewis College (Durango, CO): I love this small college because its in a small city and only 2 hours away from Denver. The college offers in state tuition for NM residence, has alot of financial aid, and has a very wide variety of programs for majors. With a small populous it would also be easier to get the help I need and to get to know the professors.

1. New Mexico State University (Las Cruces, NM): I love NMSU and really always have. I visited it for the first time when I was 8. It has a wide variety of programs and has a beautiful campus. I love the dorms as well.
